Iron Flame

Iron Flame combines resins traditionally burned for protection and purification across multiple cultures. Dragon’s Blood (Daemonorops Draco)—that mysterious deep red resin from Southeast Asian rattan palms—forms the heart of this blend with its sweet, slightly vanilla-touched warmth. Despite its fierce name, Dragon’s Blood burns surprisingly mellow, creating a perfect foundation for the other resins to build upon.
The Frankincense here is Somali Maydi (Boswellia Frereana), prized for its unusual profile that’s more mentholated and citrusy than its Arabian cousins. It cuts through the sweetness with an almost cooling quality. Myrrh (Commiphora Myrrha) brings its ancient earthiness—that distinctive bitter-balsamic note that has grounded incense blends for millennia. Together, these create the classic temple incense backbone, but with more complexity than typical Frankincense-Myrrh combinations.
The unexpected element is Palo Santo Resin (Bursera Graveolens), the “blood” of the “holy wood” from South American forests. Where other protection blends can feel heavy or somber, Palo Santo lifts everything with its unique combination of pine, lemon, and mint notes. It’s traditionally burned to clear negative energy, making it a natural fit for this protective blend.
Hand-crafted into distinctive pieces with a soft, almost velvety texture and rich coloring that ranges from rust-red to deep terracotta, with darker burgundy patches where the Dragon’s Blood concentrates. The surface has a fine, powdery quality typical of Dragon’s Blood blends. Pieces vary from small, easily portioned chunks to larger pieces that can be broken down as needed.
Burns beautifully on the included mica plate at moderate heat—around 180-200°F for electric burners. The blend reveals itself in stages: bright and citrusy at first, then warming into the Dragon’s Blood sweetness, finally settling into the deep resinous base.
